La Bandera with Salami

La Bandera is a typical dish in the Dominican Republic. Its main ingredients are rice and chicken, but we will do it with salami and red beans this time. Then I will tell you about the ingredients and the preparation process.

Ingredients for 4 people

For the Salami:

- 2 pounds of Mamita’s Salami

- 1 tablespoon of oil

For the rice:

- 4 cups of rice

- 5 cups of water

- 4 tablespoons of oil

- Salt to taste

For the beans:

- 2 cups of kidney beans

- 1 tablespoon of oil

- 1 small red onion, cut into small pieces

- 2 cloves of garlic

- 1 tablespoon tomato sauce

- 1/2 tablespoon coriander

- Salt to taste

Salami Preparation

While the rice is being made you can fry your Salami.

Preparation of the beans

Remember, before preparing this recipe you must have soaked the beans for at least 12 hours. Drain the water from the beans and boil them in another saucepan with fresh water. When they are ready, drain the water from the beans, but don’t throw it away, you will need it later.

In another cauldron, heat oil, and add the beans along with the garlic, onion, cilantro, and salt. Let them cook for a few minutes. When they are ready, add the water in which the beans were boiled and tomato sauce.

When all the rice and beans are done, you just have to serve them on a plate with your fried salami.
